1. Special wet room paint, effect paint, etc. What should you buy?
Before even finding the color of your dreams, you still need to know in which departments to look for your painting. Can you paint the bathroom like any other room? Unfortunately not: as in the kitchen or the WC, you will have to get a special wet room paint. But before that, you will need to pass an undercoat, which will allow the paint to hang better, and you will avoid multiplying the layers. In the case of a bathroom renovation, if your wall is already colored, choose the right covering, and let it dry for 12 hours. You will then need to apply at least two coats of paint (with a good quality product), respecting a drying time of 12 hours. You will get a better finish with a glossy or satin finish than with a matte finish. We also advise you to favor acrylic paint (with water), which contains less harmful solvents than glycerol paint, diluted with White Spirit. Avoid entry-level products which may be weak. What about effect paint? Glitter, metallized, iridescent, pearly… Manufacturers now market a wide range. But all these murals are not ideal in a humid atmosphere ... On the other hand, the tadelakt coating, which produces a rough concrete effect, is perfectly suitable for a modern bathroom! It is applied without an undercoat and is very resistant. Do you want to repaint your old tiles? It is possible, with a special tiling paint. Clean the substrate well, repair it if it is damaged and sand well to optimize the adhesion of the tiles. Then apply your paint (or a decorative resin) and enjoy the new look of your pond!
2. What color to choose? The timeless blue
Blue is, and will no doubt remain, the preferred color of the pond, in addition to being perfectly timeless. It's crazy how blue crosses the ages without ever losing any of its superb… The atmosphere varies according to the colors and materials with which it is associated: warm and maritime with wood, it becomes melancholic with other cool colors . Sometimes, it invites you to travel, other times, to relaxation… Whether it is present on the furniture or on the walls, blue makes your bathroom an ideal place to meet. The entire color chart suits your pond: azure, turquoise, navy, etc. There is something for everyone. And the shades can even blend together for a Zen decor.
3. Light tones to enlarge a small bathroom
In terms of decoration, do you prefer not to make decisions that are too clear cut? Worried about getting bored with color? No problem ! Painting your walls white gives you great freedom of choice as to the future decoration of the room. You can add color in small touches with furniture and / or decorative items, bath linen, plants ... And change the mood of your bathroom almost as you would change your shirt! Another notable advantage of white and light tones (off-white, beige, light gray, etc.) is that they enlarge the space. This is ideal if, like most French people, you have a small bathroom. If possible, bring in the light and install mirrors, which will accentuate the effect of depth in the room. Ready to try the adventure of color? Why not try pastel shades? Old rose, water green, light blue: the color is discreet, while bringing a real touch of softness to the bathroom, for a Scandinavian style or even a liberty spirit ... Ideal in the room where our rooms begin and end days!
4. Bright colors for an energetic morning shower
The hottest shades are not those that you spontaneously associate with the bathroom. And yet, why not try the adventure? Do you have trouble emerging in the morning? Are you the grumpy type until the coffee works? So choose bright colors like red, orange, yellow, pink ... On walls, furniture or the floor, these colors will bring you a little of their vitality. Bring energy and good humor into your bathroom ... But beware, rather by small touches! Indeed, if vitamin cocktails work well in your morning juice, they may do too much in your bathroom. Preferably choose only one of these bright colors, which you will marry with white or other more sober shades, to maximize the effect of your decor.
5. Natural colors, a whole range of colors
© Home by Me We often say that green looks bad… And therefore, we do not recommend it in a bathroom, which is the room where you most often meet your reflection! This is not a legend, but that does not mean that green is to be avoided. Increasingly trendy, he invites himself throughout the house, including in the bathroom. In small quantities, green brings nature back to the bathroom, either because you put plants in it, or because you choose to paint a wall green. This color goes wonderfully with solid wood and light shades, but also with blue, pale pink ... Classic or bold, all combinations are possible with green. If you are afraid of getting tired of such a color, rest assured: green is trendy, and not just this year. More and more of us are appreciating a form of homecoming, which green embodies wonderfully in the home! More generally, all natural colors (brown, mole, twine, sand, ocher, hers, etc.) find their place in the bathroom, for a mineral, warm, melancholic atmosphere ... It's up to you!
6. Choose your paint: black and gray swatch, for a modern bathroom
© Deavita Although it is synonymous with refinement, black has long been shunned in the bathroom: too dark, too radical, morbid for some ... But that was before! Black is back in grace. Today, the whole palette of gray colors find their place in the most contemporary bathrooms. They come to create a loft atmosphere, an industrial look, matched with materials such as waxed concrete in particular. We find the dark colors on the coverings, the toilets, the furniture, the bathroom linen… If you fear a gloomy atmosphere, know that a total black look is not essential! To soften it while keeping a very strong decorative bias, marry them with softer materials such as wood, or with lighter shades, or even color. Black goes with everything, and makes your bathroom chic and elegant. So, dare we? We hope that these decorating tips inspired you! Remember that nothing requires you to repaint the entire room. You can very well just paint a wall, and then play on your furniture, accessories and decorative items.
